About the Verapist Sessions: Step by Step

Information collection

The first step is to understand every detail of the patient’s fears and select the correct technique and virtual environments that best suit their characteristics.

1

2

Setting clear objectives

Every patient must realize their fear and set a goal of what they would like to achieve with the therapy. By having clear objectives, the patient can receive personalized treatment, track their healing process and make a step forward to their ultimate goal, session by session.

Virtual Reality

  • The patient is seated during the sessions and watches a projection of interactive 3D graphics through a VR device, including goggles and headphones. The placement of the helmet isolates the external stimuli and transports them to an environment that is different from the therapy room.

3

4

Observation during the simulation

  • The patient’s behavior can be beneficial for the evaluation process to obtain data on therapeutic changes. Therefore, the therapist continuously observes the patient during the session and writes a report about their behavior. The system can analyze the patient’s heartbeat, blood pressure, breathing difficulties, and level of anxiety. The system also allows controlling the VR environment’s parameters to reduce fear, control, and the surroundings according to the patient’s needs.

Feedback process

After the VR session, the patient gives detailed feedback to the therapist to explain what they saw and how they felt during the entire session.

5

6

Homework between the sessions

The therapist gives some homework between sessions to strengthen and generalize what has been worked upon during the consultation in the patient’s usual environment.
